What We're All About......

Genuine Article dolls are limited production porcelain dolls created and dressed to please discriminating collectors everywhere.

Costuming and accessories are combined with individually handcrafted, handpainted porcelain to create a piece which will give pleasure for a lifetime.

Each doll is crafted completely in our studio in northern Colorado. There is NO MASS PRODUCTION! The process begins with liquid porcelain slip cast into molds obtained from original doll artists around the globe. The "green" casting is removed from the mold, cured until dry and then cleaned and detailed to remove seam lines and imperfections before kiln firing. The bisque porcelain is checked for cracks or flaws; pieces passing inspection are polished and china painted and fired in stages, bringing out the fine lustre of the porcelain. Finally, the doll is assembled, dressed and accessorized, giving each its own personality.

Dolls can be ordered with special requests such as fleshtone, freckles, eye color, hair color and style, and pose. All of the options have limitation, of course, but many of the mold "families" have an interesting variety of leg and arm choices which can be interchanged with a number of heads. Most common poses are sitting and standing.

Dolls we have on hand can be shipped almost immediately. Special order dolls may take 4-6 weeks, depending on volume of orders we have in the shop and the availability of special request items.

Larger volume orders will be managed on an individual basis and some discounts are available.
